7th August National Handloom Day

The 7th of August was chosen as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement which was launched on this day in 1905.

Handloom is a symbol of our country’s glorious culture heritage and an important source of livelihood in the country. This sector is key to women’s empowerment as over 70% of all handloom weavers and allied workers are women.

You and your families are urged to buy Indian handloom fabric and promote the same to all.
